Founded in 1997, Mid Valley Disposal (MVD) is the leading locally owned and operated company that services recycling, organics, and solid waste in the Central Valley. The Kalpakoff family has four generations of experience in successfully operating a solid waste management company in California. Today, MVD is being operated by Joseph and Jonathan Kalpakoff (fourth generation). With over 400 employees, MVD provides exclusive collection services to a total of 36 local jurisdictions and is permitted to provide collection services in Fresno, Merced, Madera, Kings, and Tulare Counties.

Growth
By expanding services, winning competitive bids, and making strategic acquisitions, MVD has grown from a one (1) truck operation in 1997 to over two hundred and seventy-five (275) collection vehicles today.
Expanding Operations
MVD’s Material Recovery Facility is equipped with state-of-the-art sorting lines installed in 2017 and 2025. The two lines process 60 tph and represent a modernized dual-line MRF capable of processing both residential curbside and commercial recyclables for communities across the Central Valley. It’s the only one of its kind in the Valley. It uses the latest sorting technology to deliver the best diversion in the industry.
The Company also expanded operations to include a state-of-the-art in-vessel composting facility. To improve community acceptance and air quality, MVD built a covered composting solution. This advanced technology will allow MVD to assist its customers with achieving state mandated requirements.
