Mid Valley Disposal’s compost facility can divert up to 71,000 tons of organic material from landfills each year, significantly reducing waste and supporting a more sustainable local community. Advanced technologies including the GORE® Cover System and the Scott, Thor Turbo Separator help increase local diversion by capturing food waste before it reaches the landfill while helping improve air quality through reduced greenhouse gas emissions.

The GORE® Cover System uses a specialized GORE-TEX® membrane that has been shown to eliminate more than 95% of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) compared to traditional open-window composting methods. By transforming recycled food waste into high-quality compost, the process enhances soil health, improves water retention, and increases drought resistance.

The result is a nutrient-rich, CDFA-certified organic compost that provides real value for local growers, landscapers, and agricultural operations.

Our Kerman’s Best Compost is CDFA organic certified and will meet your agriculture or residential needs. To ensure community acceptance through the reduction of odors and preservation of air quality, MVD built a state of the art in-vessel covered composting facility. This advanced technology will allow MVD to assist its customers with achieving state mandated requirements.

Our Closed-Loop Recycling Approach

Customers: our model begins with our customers. Food scraps and green waste are disposed in the green container for collection.

Sort Line: Organic waste is sorted for contamination on our sort line and any packaged food is filtered through our food depackager.

Bunkers: Organic material is loaded into bunkers and covered with a specialized GORE-TEX tarp which locks in needed gases, heat, and microorganisms to promote maturation, while also keeping out moisture. Material is rotated through a series of bunkers over the course of 8 weeks so it can mature.

Compost: Our CDFA certified organic Kerman’s Best Compost is used to help grow Central Valley crops to feed local families. The food waste generated by consumers reenters the Mid Valley Disposal waste stream for reprocessing.

Our organic compost is locally sourced and made from organic waste responsibly collected within our community. Through the combined efforts of residents and businesses, this material is transformed into nutrient-rich compost that feeds back into local soils, supporting healthier landscapes, gardens, and agricultural projects.
